Woodgate Nursery Garden Show 18th and 19th May

Join us on 18th and 19th May and help raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

This years Garden Show encompasses the following activities for all the family :

An ideal opportunity – to pick up gardening tips, advice and inspiration specific to your garden from all our gardening experts.

Keeping the Children entertained – they can get up close and personal with birds of prey from the Seal and Bird Rescue Trust, take part in the nursery treasure trail, plant seeds to take home and, if they are good, have lunch or a cake from Purdy’s tea room.

Show Gardens – 5 local garden designers will be competing to win the award for the best show gardens design.. Vote for your favourite for a chance to win a £50 garden voucher.

Demonstrations - from Woodgate Forge, Drew Charlton Willow Fencing, Norfolk Master composters and Rutland Willow weaving.

Gardening Experts/Stands – including Green Thumb lawn care, Mobile Mowers garden machinery equipment, Norfolk Farm Shepherds Huts and Home Grown Revolutions. Craft stands.

Hanging Basket Demonstration Day – Tues 7th May

Our very own Dominique will be demonstrating how to design a hanging basket in the seating area just outside the Tea Room.

Come along and learn more about designing hanging baskets at one of our free sessions below. We also stock all the plants, hanging baskets, liners and compost you will need to create your own design at home.

Please come along to one of her demonstration sessions at the following times :

Please note this is not a ticketed event and therefore is on a first come basis. We will be laying on additional chairs outside the tea room to cater for this event.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING – Raises £770.57

Thankyou to everyone who came to Purdy’s Tea Room on Friday 28th September to support our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning.

All the proceeds from the sale of drinks throughout the day and generous donations added up to an incredible £770.57 !

READ ABOUT LAST YEARS ’WORLDS BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING’ :
Purdy’s Tea Room and Woodgate Nursery would like to thank everyone who joined them for their 2011 Macmillan Coffee morning. A total of £530.87 was raised through customer donations and the tea room donating the whole days takings from the sale of hot and cold drinks. The food based Tea room quiz was won by Valerie Pratt who wins a Purdy’s tea room voucher and Woodgate Nursery vouchers were won by D Wilkins and G Pratt for guessing the correct amount of tea pots in our wheel barrow. Purdy’s Tea Room would also like to thank Kenny Walker for kindly allowing the proceeds from the sale of his tea pots to be donated.

WOODGATE FORGE – Now open at Woodgate Nursery

Woodgate Forge is a new enterprise for 2012, the forge produces all manner of garden and domestic ironwork, including rose arches, plant supports, fire baskets and weathervanes. Arthur, our young blacksmith, accepts customer commissions and will undertake restoration work. The pub sign fittings for the Woodgate Arms (at Sandringham Flower show 2012) were made by Arthur to our specifications.

Sandringham Flower Show 2012 – Woodgate show garden wins GOLD

Woodgate Nursery Show garden wins GOLD, ‘Best in Show’ and ‘People’s Choice’.

We would like to thank all those involved for helping us to win a gold in our first show garden entry to the Sandringham Flower show. The Woodgate team worked very hard in the build up to the show (some of whom even camped over night !) and were rewarded for all their efforts by also wining ‘Best in Show’ and ’The People’s Choice’ for the garden design.

All the show gardens were judged by television garden presenters Alan Mason and Chris Beardshaw (Chelsea Gold Medal winner).
